Paulo China says Figo might still return to the national team for the EK2008. He seems to be very touched by the petition.

Oh my god! Leave that poor boy alone LOL

I agree with you yousfigo, Portugal should not make the mistake and push Luis into something he does not want and would make him look like a fool aswell.

Its just stupid to put him back. His position in the team is filled pretty good with at least 3 players. It would be useless to get him back. And I guess it would not do his career well aswell.

But seeing him back before Xmas would be great! Mr. Green

I'm not a professional football player, but if I was the thing that I would enjoy the most is playing for the National team, not to mention if I have a chance to win a cup. I don't think Figo will be forced to go back, if he does I'm sure he'll do it because he wants to. It's not like he's 40 years old and cannot put up with the pressure. He's still the best and more mature player of Portugal and we all know the team's not doing so well. I would love to see him back and I'm pretty confident that if he does he will be happy and finally win a cup. Well that's my humble opinion!

I guess its not so easy to say they will win a cup. What if it happens like at the WC 2002 and they get kicked out in the first round? That would leave a bad end on his national career. I guess being in the semi-final of a WC and being teh captain and all was a very nice ending to his career.

Sure all we can do is speculate and the decision is Luis, as always. But I mean with Ronaldo, Quaresma, Nani... they are all great players and they waited long enough for a chance in the NT.

Don´t get me wrong, of course I like the pure idea of seeing Figo with the 7 again and I am sure he would able to perform on a top level. But it would end with the media in that way:
1) Figo will be the one leading us to the title!
The whole nation would go YAY, Figo is back he will make it happen! That means extra pressure, I´d say.
Or:
2) Portugal got kicked out too soon of the tournament, why did Figo play and not Quaresma or Nani...

I would simply hate to see him get thru that. But I agree, its his decision, he will do what he thinks is right. I just hope it will be the right one in the end.

all the things in life have an end, and the time for NT is passed.
it would be wrong if he returns, how many times is he going to retire of NT?
he doesnt play the qualification, but when the final phase begins he plays, it isnt serious. i only expect that he has the sense to say no.

I guess even if figo comes back, I would very much like to see him guiding the team, not playing for them. The NT cant be too dependent on him, Figo has to go sooner or later.

So make the best of him, by not playing him, but instead put him in a coaching role. Very Happy
